Wisdom of Solomon:
Enoch
Enoch (Chanoch), son of Yered, is a sixth-generation descendant
of Adam and Eve, mentioned in Genesis 5:18-24. We are not told
much about him, but when reporting the end of his life, the Torah
says (Genesis 5:24):
Vayit'haleich Chanoch et ha-Elohim, v'einenu, ki lakach oto Elohim.
"Enoch walked with God -- and he was not, for God took him."
According to some midrashim and early mystical texts, Enoch
did not die; "God took him" alive into Heaven and transformed
him into Metatron.
