Dinnertime arrival into Ben Gurion, transfer to Tel Aviv. Check into hotel and welcome dinner at Lilit, a special restaurant which turns around the lives of street kids. Evening walk on the beach of Tel Aviv and a stop for the best ice cream in Israel!

After breakfast in the hotel we begin our southward journey to the Bedouin town of Lakiya, where we will meet women doing traditional rug weaving in a unique Bedouin women’s cooperative. We’ll stop for a typical Israel felafel lunch (on your own) and then a wine tasting at Ruth Winery, the only boutique winery in Israel owned and run by a woman vintner. On to the Timna region, where we will spend the afternoon in our own desert meditation and drumming workshop.

Today we spend the day in the Ramon Crater, which dates back millions of years and contains geological formations unparalleled anywhere else in the world. A full morning hiking tour, or jeeps for those who prefer, will take us to some of the most beautiful desert rock formations. An afternoon gourmet outdoor picnic is followed by zip line, rappelling, and bow and arrow activities in the crater. In the evening we eat outdoors (weather permitting) in a Bedouin tent; choose outdoor sleeping in the tent, or opt for a shared cottage.

This morning we rise early for a silent climb up the Roman ramp of Masada. On the top we will have a special service and study session led by Rabbi Goldstein. Then we descend by cable car and enjoy the Crowne Plaza swimming pool, or a Dead Sea float, or optional spa treatments. In the late afternoon we begin “going up” to Jerusalem, saying the traditional shehecheyanu at a beautiful overlook.
Dinner at Olive and Fish, a restaurant with a Mediterranean flair.

After breakfast in the hotel, we will visit Yad Lakashish (Lifeline for the Old), a wonderful crafts workshop for the elderly- shopping for souvenirs encouraged (and its a mitzvah!)Then we volunteer in the soup kitchen Hazon Yeshaya, cooking and serving lunch to Jerusalem’s needy. Free time and lunch on your own downtown afterward. Those who wish can join for Kabbalat Shabbat services at Kol Haneshama, Jerusalem’s hip Reform synagogue, followed by a festive Shabbat dinner in the Inbal hotel where we will have the privilege of hosting some “lone” women soldiers without family in Israel.

It’s Shabbat- sleep late, enjoy the indoor pool at the Inbal, go to one of Jerusalem’s varied synagogues, or enjoy the Old City. After lunch on your own, join us for an optional guided walking tour of the Old City. Dinner on your own tonight at any one of Jerusalem’s fabulous restaurants- we’ll arrange groups and suggestions!

After breakfast in the hotel, we drive north for a mountain bike ride in the lush Galilee hills. Lunch at Amirim- a vegetarian moshav. After lunch we’ll head to the Jordan for river rafting. Dinner at Decks Restaurant overlooking the Kinneret.

An early morning horse back ride at Havat Bat Yaar starts our last day.
Lunch in Tiberias (on your own), and then on to Safed, birthplace of Kabbalah, for an afternoon of mysticism and “Otiyot”—Hebrew Yoga! Gourmet farewell dinner at Bar-el, a chef’s own old stone home in Safed. Transfer to the airport for the flight back to Toronto, or extend your stay- the trip is over but your memories will last forever! (B,D)
